We will view and discuss this 30-minute DVD Hartley film documentary based on Peter Russell's newest book from Science to God: Exploring The Mystery of Consciousness. (Link to the book below)

Author, Peter Russell, a long time IONS colleague, has dedicated a life time to the exploration and research of consciousness. As a prominent thinker in the fields of consciousness and science, he asserts that science cannot explain the fact that humans are conscious.

"How is it that something as unconscious as the matter of the brain ever gives rise to something as immaterial as experience?" muses Peter Russell in from Science to God, a stimulating program exploring science, spirit, and consciousness. This capacity for inner experience he calls "the great mystery."

This documentary on the great mystery, by scholar, Peter Russell, who studied mathematics and theoretical physics before he delved into experimental psychology, makes the point that awareness is present to some degree in all living things. It thus questions the predominant scientific view that consciousness itself is somehow created by the human brain.

"The next great frontier in not outer space," Russell concludes. "it's inner space."

Viewing this as a group is an awesome experience. The dialogue that follows will be provocative, evocative, and invocative. Come join our IONS community for an evening of presentation and discussion.
