In recent
months, I have been blown away by a flim masterpiece, Birth As
We Know It, by Elena Tonetti-Vladimirova, about water births
in Russia and at Kona on Hawaii. But it is about much more
than that. It shows that women can have joyous labors rather
than pain filled labors. It shows that women can have
uncomplicated deliveries if they do their homework, and it
describes that homework. I would like everyone who has the
wisdom to be associated with IONS to know about this DVD. I
would really appreciate your suggestions about how best to
accomplish this. You can learn more about this DVD at

But beware! And be
prepared. The movie is so powerful, sowing how our concept of
the birthing process can be so different. It can be totally
joyful. When you show this film people sometimes regress to
the birth experience they did not have. So be prepared to have
some "stuff" come up. This makes a very good discussion
around gender differences too, as both men and women can be
totally struck with how things could be different if we
applied the tools of conscious preparation and taught woman
how to work with intention and attention to consciousness
while in delivery.
IONS President James O'Dea used this video in a workshop with
the result of deep healing across the gender divides. The
movie gave women and men who had painful experiences an
opportunity to reclaim their birth experience in another way
with techniques for re-patterning consciousness.
