IONS at the Movies

The IONS NW Community Group Leaders recently had an online discussion. Many of them shared the videos they had liked the best for working with community groups. Some of them suggested using Blockbuster or NetFlix, picking up movies and videos in a store or having them delivered.

Some groups have a night like "A Night at the Meaningful Movies." They use movies that are directed to social justice and collective healing.  Others use services like IONS partner Spiritual Cinema, receiving several short and long movies on spirituality and consciousness a monthly DVD delivery with membership. It requires that a group have a means to project videos.

As the IONS NW Community Group Leaders began to recommend great IONS type movies to each other, they began to gather quite a list. When the discussion turned to where to get good movies, a question came up around what happened to the IONS Video Library.

In the last issue, we mentioned that Kent Moline of Spokane IONS Community was the new keeper of the IONS Video Library. Kent chimed in and gave us a list of all the videos he keeps for sharing with other IONS Community Group Coordinators. If you send Kent $5 for the shipping with your address, he will loan out a video.

Although some of the videos are fairly outdated, some of them are real jewels, such as Metamorphosis which has been reproduced under another name but features Rupert Sheldrake, David Bohm, and David Abrams. The problem often is that videos are too long for community group meetings, because it is great to be able to discuss a movie collectively after viewing it and there is often little time.

We thought you might like to see the list of the IONS videos archived in Kent Moline's home.  The current IONS video library is published at this link. Beyond that here are some other recommendations. We will provide more in the next issue.

The Chaos Point: The World at the Crossroads

Community Group Coordinator, Michael Ellis, Australia
