The
Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) has several groups which
are regional. They function as a hub for other IONS Community
groups in a particular state or bioregion. Here are some
examples of groups which hosted sensational activities
lately--the kind that ripple out and seed projects for a better
world.
FIONS
FIONS (Friends of
IONS) New York is a long time community group which has its own
regional focus with programs serving constituents in New York
city and surrounding area. It was the first IONS Community Group.
It has since incorporated as a 501C-3 organization and partner of IONS.
FIONS recently
hosted a gathering with an initiative called
One Voice Coalition
which featured Deepak Chopra and Andrew Cohen. Take a few
minutes to be inspired by reading this
report on the OneVoice workshop day which attracted 700
attendees in this report by Jane Hughes Gignoux.
FL-IONS
Another type of
regional group is that of
FL-IONS (Florida IONS) which is a
coalition of various community groups in Florida State who
explore shared leadership and support community building on
values of Love and Transformation throughing "feeling the
shift". FL-IONS is a learning community of IONS
Community Group Coordinators who function as a coalition to
literally influence the politics in Florida.
Sharon Joy and other Florida Community Group
Coordinators just hosted an event in Florida with IONS founder
Captain Edgar Mitchell which invited IONS Circle members and
staff to witness the recent
Space Shuttle
launch. Then on December 8 Captain Mitchell gave a
presentation on
Subtle Energies, Collective Fields and the Quantum Hologram.
SE Region Community
Network
Linda Hassler is a
Network Coordinator representing SE Regional Community Groups.
Like Jane Gignoux of FIONS and Sharon Joy of Fl-IONS, Linda is a
former member of IONS Stewardship Council. She has had her own community
group for many years and enjoys her relationship with other area
IONS Community Groups. Here
is the report she writes about her
Memphis group the Southeast groups.
IONS Northwest
IONS Northwest is a
bioregional Network, spanning 4 Northwest Sates as well as
Western Canada. Its focus is not only to support community
building in general in the Northwest, but to support growing
community group activity in a bioregion focused on
sustainability. We are a learning community with over 1000
members and have a planning team which supports IONS Community
Group Coordinators and their groups throughout the bio-region.
On May 5 the IONS NW Leaders from WA, ID, MT, OR and Western
Canada will be meeting IONS President James O'Dea when they
gather for their 4th Retreat in the last 5 years.
IONS ~ LA
IONS LA is a
regional Network of community groups and extremely active in the
region. Tahdi Blackstone is the Coordinator. She and Mary Wright
recently created The Elda Hartley Award. On Saturday, the LA
Groups, had a ceremony to give the award to Sheilah Mitchell for
her making of the film about Edgar Mitchell: The View From
Space: A Message of Peace (Issue
#1 at the movies report) and IONS Colleague Peter Russell
for his work. (See his latest films

The Willis Harman House, Sao Paulo, Brazil

global activities, serving Spanish and Portuguese populations.
Simone Roumanalou is a global leader who hosts events with other
organizations around the globe such as the World Business
Academy. Simone has just been nominated onto the Board as an
IONS Community Group Representative assuming the international
position from Ana Lia Alvarez of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Simone's American Board Counterpart is Tahdi Blackstone who also
represents the
IONS ~ LA Council of 35 IONS Community groups.
Some of the regional
coordinators above have shared summaries of their events.
Reading these personal accounts will give you a sense of the
amazing community building and catalyzing IONS Community Group
Coordinators can undertake.
Regional Reps Report on
Recent Community Successes
1) Click on this
link to read about the recent One Voice Coalition Gathering in
New York with Deepak Chopra and Andrew Cohen. Jane Gignoux
writes a report of an exciting event that drew 700 New Yorkers
and beyond for a day of networking and World Cafes (conversation
process).
2) FLIONS (Florida
groups) recently hosted a shared leadership event on exploring
and creating the heart field. This event included exercises for
deepening the group and connecting it. They have connected the
field work to the Research at IONS and are researching groups
with such instruments as Random Number Generators to measure
coherency of brain activity in a group.
3) IONS Northwest
recently hosted Awakening the Dreamer: Changing the Dream
Symposium produced by the Pachamama Alliance. The event was
historic in that it brought together Networks of Networks in the
bioregion to
explore the relationship of consciousness, environmental
sustainability and social justice. Many groups were seeded as
well as a grass roots Awakening the Dreamer NW which continues
work in the region through educating the public. ATD NW in
conjunction with the Pachamama Alliance is currently
coordinating the first regional facilitator training in North
America.
Now IONS Northwest is hosting a regional gathering for IONS
President James O'Dea on An Emerging Science of Peace and
Transformation. There will be special events for IONS members
and the general community, IONS NW Community Group Coordinators,
and Coordinators for various Peace groups in the bio-region.
We are glad you took the time to read these. There are many more
IONS Community Networks waking up the planet. Tell us about
yours in a note to Susan Burns or share it over the IONS online
Community Group Coordinators group list serve.
